This JavaScript simulation compares relativistic and Newtonian models that describe the phenomenon of a particle splitting into two new distinct particles. The motion and the split of the initial particle as well as the motions of the emerged particles taking place in the laboratory inertial reference frame is displayed. In both models, the mass of the initial particle, and the initial conditions of the mechanical system are identical. Thus, the user can compare the predictions of each model.
A supplemental pdf document presents the theoretical analysis of the relativistic and Newtonian momentum and energy concepts used in this simulation.
